Pike County is interested in purchasing the Santos Farm property, which originally was on the district's table as a potential spot for the new DV Elementary School. The district is no longer seeking the property, but the county would like to potentially share it with DV for athletic fields.

Sports roundup: Swimmers set records

DV swimmers have record-setting day sets four records

Delaware Valley senior Ken Kleso set four individual records and two relay records Wednesday in the Warriors 111-25 boys swimming win at home against Scranton Prep.

Feb. 11 boys' basketball roundup: Scranton (Pa.) Prep 61, Delaware Valley (Pa.) 48

Brendon Sheldon had 18 points and 12 rebounds, but Delaware Valley lost a Lackawanna League game at Westfall Township, Pa.

Brandon Angradi added 11 points for Delaware Valley (4-18, 3-11 LL).

Wrestling: Stroudsburg 49, Delaware Valley 18

Matt Transue handed Jonathan Haber just his fifth loss of the year as Stroudsburg defeated Delaware Valley 49-18 in wrestling on Tuesday.

Transue pinned Haber in 1:36 in their bout at 189 pounds. At 160, Stroudsburg's Zach Dugan nipped Dan Dellavecchia 2-1.

Beadle marched at Obama's inauguration, will head to Special Olympics

Seventeen-year-old Victor Beadle III posed for the camera on Thursday afternoon outside his home with the nonchalance of a seasoned celebrity.

Beadle's face showed nothing but keen determination. "Smile," his mother, Mary Ewbank, urged.

Beadle is a Delaware Valley High School special education student. And he's been getting a lot of attention lately.

He was chosen to join Team USA for the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Idaho Feb. 7-13.

Beadle will be the only male Alpine skier from his designated Special Olympics region, which includes Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, and Wyoming counties.

He also marched with about 30 other Special Olympics athletes at President Barack Obama's Inauguration.

"I was about a foot and half away from (Obama)," he said.

Skier headed to Special Olympics

A Special Education student from the Delaware Valley School District will join Team USA for the Special Olympic's World Winter Games in Idaho next month.

16-year-old Victor Beadle will represent Special Education Area 'P' as Pennsylvania's only male Alpine skier. Area 'P' includes, Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, and Wyoming Counties.

Beadle started skiing when he was in ninth grade. His teacher and coach, Eric Kundrich from the Delaware Valley School District. said everything came together for the young man at the State Winter Games in Johnstown last year when he won a couple of Gold Medals.

Meagan Bocci scored 11 points for Delaware Valley in a Lackawanna League Division I loss in Westfall Township, Pa. Kim Commisso had six points for Delaware Valley (2-9, 0-4 Lackawanna).

TV-13 will broadcast Monday's basketball game live

Blue Ridge Communications will broadcast Monday's boys' basketball game against Honesdale live from Delaware Valley on TV-13, according to Blue Ridge's Web site.

The live broadcast starts at 7 p.m., and the game will be replayed at 10 p.m.

Volleyball wins district title

The Lady Warrior volleyball team won its fourth consecutive district title, defeating Abington Heights in a three-game sweep this evening.

This weekend at DV: Football and music

Tonight the Warriors will host Scranton in the final Delaware Valley home game of the season, kicking off at 7 with a pre-game presentation to honor the seniors from the team, cheerleading squad and band.

Tomorrow the high school's musical groups will host a joint concert to benefit their scholarship and activity funds. The event will feature the concert band, concert choir, jazz band and symphony orchestra and starts at 7 p.m. in the DVHS auditorium.
