SunshineReview.org has an evaluation of how Delaware Valley's transparency stacks up. (See the table at right.)For better transparency, the review suggests that DV post the full budget online, which is something I asked for at a board meeting a few years ago. I was told that the document would be too long to post on the Internet, which in a broadband multimedia world, didn't make much sense.
The review also points out that board member contact info is not available on the district's Web site. RB for DV posted this public information a few months ago, right after Sue Schor was appointed to the board in October.
Finally, the report says, "There is no information on taxes, audits, public records, academic performance, lobbying and contracts."
Hopefully these are all things the district can improve. The review's links are a little outdated since DV launched a new Web site a couple months ago, but SunshineReview.org seems like a promising and useful tool.

We deserve to have this information published as soon as possible. This information should be readily available to the public so we can better assess the financial and academic health of the district. Citizens need this information to question the efforts of their elected officials and demand better performance from those officials.
This will be a top priority of mine if I am elected. I welcome a knowledgeable citizenry.
The more citizens know, the better government performs.

The SunshineReview is the information I handed out at the Matamoras Republican Meet the Candidates night. DV has a long way to go however some progress has been made. Total immediate transparency at all levels of government will change the very fabric of politics, justice and liberty.
