Over all, it is good to see the district making progress with online communication. The calendar is particularly useful, especially if it is kept current. The site was originally planned to launch at the beginning of 2009.
There are still parts of the site that are not up to date or are poorly formatted, mostly with mismatched fonts and font sizes. The board meeting dates page contains only a cumbersome PDF with details about this month's meetings only. The homepage has only blank space under "Headlines."
The navigation of the site has not improved from the previous site; if anything, the new site is more confusing to navigate. I was unable to load the individual school pages by using the drop down box at the top of the page.
The Flash picture slideshow looks nice, but it takes up a lot of room on the page. It's ironic seeing photos of students on the site. When I was in high school, we were completely forbidden from posting photos of students on DV World, the high school's Web site. In fact, this arbitrary rule was pushed so far that I was forced into removing my own personal YouTube videos that contained DV students.
For sure, this is a step in the right direction, and hopefully a sign of good things to come.
