Finan and Hessling said they are calling all of the candidates to inform them of the decision.

Sue Schor is the ninth board member
The judge has selected Sue Schor to fill the vacancy on the school board, according to a phone call from superintendent Candis Finan and board secretary Bill Hessling.

Join me with a loud Congratulations to Sue Schor. No doubt she will be a great addition to the Board. A great hearty thanks to Judge Chelak for exercising logic and wisdom to appoint such a fine individual. Not only was she the next highest vote getter in the last election, a critical determining factor the TU led board deliberately ignored, but she has been dedicated to the children of our great community for a long time,another important quality. She is going to do a great job.

I happened to be talking to Sue when she got the call. When she called me back, I congratulated her. I am very pleased.
I agree with Jack, Sue was an excellent choice, and by choosing the runner up in the last election she is also the choice of the electorate.
As several members of the Board and Judge Chelak indicated, it was a great group of candidates.
Sue, again, Congratulations!
You will do a fine job and be a proud example of a director.

Dear Ryan,
Congratulations. This appointment is a major victory to the friends of the Delaware Valley School District. Clearly the taxpayers united interest group should not be included since their entire existence is dedicated to protecting the bottom line, most often at the expense of teachers and students. Your site and writings in the paper have been largely influential in shedding light on the cronyism of the current president Bob Goldsack. Speaking as an individual with close ties to the district I will say that this new is welcoming, as another taxpayers united candidate will only lead to the slow degradation of the quality of education in our school district. Crack open the champagne, congratulations Sue.
at least now we'll get those bleachers that we've been dying for, right?

I assume that you think that "hose bleechers" would be a waste of money.
At this time, I agree. If you atteended the Board meeting last night you would have heard that this years budget will be tight, and it is hard to see where this may change.
The Board should be encouraging frugality, and leading by example.
This does not mean that we should neglect education, but it does mean that discretionary spending, such as paying architects to draft plans for buildings that may not be built (an expenditure not in the budget) and longer bus rides for elementary school age kids for field trips (proposed by a parent in the meeting last night) should be carefully scrutinized.
The focus must remain on providing a great education to every student at DVSD.
We will see what happens, but I do not think that the Board will be eager to spend whimsically spend money.
If they do, let them know you are unhappy. Attend Board meetings, get involved!
