Judge Gregory Chelak has ordered a hearing on a petition submitted by Jack Fisher. The petition was submitted when the school board failed to fill the vacancy of John Wladar within 30 days.
The hearing will take place Wednesday (tomorrow) at 1 p.m. in the Main Courtroom at the Pike County Courthouse in Milford.

Isn't a bit absurd that the board pays a lawyer to give them legal advice and in the past few weeks they have violated both provisions of the policy that governs the appointment of a citizen to a vacant board position (those being that the process abide by the sunshine act and occur within 30 days of the vacancy)?
Would any person in their right mind who is legally bound to do something within 30 days figure that as long as they do it close to 30 days the judge will simply understand? What kind of lawyer gives this advice?
And how does the solicitor, according to the courier's account this week, come up with a totally different story than the school board president as to what happened at their secret meeting? Was there discussion and a vote or not?
Well now the matter is in court, something the board and solicitor probably didn't expect because, as a community, we continually neglect to hold them accountable. It seems that is about to change.
The board president and the school solicitor should apologize to the community or highly consider resigning their positions because their utter incompetence and disregard for the public has become apparent in this shameful mess.
