According to current board member Sue Casey, the following people intend to fill the position:
- Ryan Balton (update: announced at 10:30 p.m.)
- Denise Fey
- Jack Fisher
- Mary Gordon
- William Greenlaw
- Bernard Marasa
- Sue Schor
- Jim Mooney (withdrawn)
The Pike County Courier had reported that former board member Chuck Pike also was considering to submit a letter of intent, and another former board member Frank Colletta had also been rumored to consider it, but as of today, the deadline to submit letters, only the six residents above will be considered by the board to fill the vacancy.

So glad to see some great names of very qualified people to fill this position. Fisher, Schor and Greenlaw. We are in good hands with any of those three. Good Luck.
Some of the names posted have already sat on the board.Not to much was brought to the table by them.One hardly ever showed up.
Mary Gordon is a straight up level headed person, who is not a push over/yes man. Her backround in education would be so beneficial for teachers and students in our district.She has been at almost all work sessions & Regular board meetings.Commitment is already there.
I have had the great privilege of working with Mary Gordon for the past 4 and ½ years. Mary is clearly dedicated to the education of our communities youth and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience to get the job done. I have great confidence in her professional abilities and know that she would be an asset to the school board. As a parent of a child in the district, I would feel confident in her abilities to perform as an active, dependable and well-informed member.
I think Mary Gordon would be a good pick, too.
Has anyone ever heard of Bernard Marasa?
We've seen some of these names way too many times and with the same old tired results. We need a fresh voice and fresh ideas. I remember when Mary Gordon ran for the Board a few years ago and I loved what she had to say. Mary is a voice for the kids in this community and has had vast experience in the field of education unlike the other candidates for this position. Not only that, but Mary is an open and fair person with NO political agenda other than what is best for ALL kids. Further, Mary has spent many years faithfully attending Board meetings and following the lastest and best practices in the field of education. She brings much more to the table than any of the other applicants. I hope this Board has the wisdom to take advantage of her offer to serve. It's time the community had a true servant on the School Board with no ego and no agenda other than what is best for the children of our school district!
Mary Gordon would be our choice for sure. Much experience in the field of education and with young people.
